Veterinarian/Founder

Dr. Lindberg grew up in Miami, Florida, but traded the beach for the mountains to attend Middlebury College in Vermont for her undergraduate degree. She had taken riding lessons as a child but her true passion for horses was able to flourish as an active member of her undergraduate’s IHSA team, representing the team at Regionals and Zones, and riding through the Vermont countryside. From there, she has dabbled in multiple disciplines, including polo and eventing.

In 2014, Dr. Lindberg received her veterinary medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine with a focus on equine and large animal medicine at the New Bolton Center. Following graduation, she completed an intensive one year internship at Rhinebeck Equine, in Rhinebeck, New York, to further her training under the mentorship of board-certified surgeons, internal medicine specialists, and experienced ambulatory clinicians. Since then, she has been an equine general practitioner in PA and NJ and has developed special interests in dentistry, geriatric horse care, and sports medicine. Dr. Lindberg is also a certified veterinary acupuncturist (CVA) and enjoys being able to incorporate acupuncture into treatment plans for many different types of horses.

Dr. Ruthie Lindberg is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of her patients and establishing strong relationships with her clients. She loves being part of your horse’s “team” to help you achieve your goals, whether it is in the show ring or living a long healthy life as a pasture pet. Client education is an important part of Dr. Lindberg's practice philosophy. She is always happy to answer any questions you may have and she enjoys giving presentations to horse owners and groups on numerous topics in equine medicine and surgery.

Dr. Kaitlin liu

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Kaitlin Liu joined Pinewood Equine in Summer 2022 as an associate veterinarian. Dr. Liu is a New Jersey native, who completed her veterinary degree at Royal Veterinary College in London, England. After graduation, she returned to her home state to complete an intensive yearlong internship at the Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center under the tutelage of board-certified surgeons and internal medicine specialists, as well as seasoned ambulatory veterinarians.

She discovered her love for horses while taking riding lessons as a kid. As an undergraduate at North Carolina State University she was a member of the IHSA team, a brother of Alpha Zeta Agricultural Honors Fraternity, and a foaling intern at the Equine Educational Unit. While abroad for veterinary school in London, she enjoyed playing on the polo team.

Professionally, Dr. Liu enjoys all aspects of equine practice, but lameness and imaging are her particular passions. When not at work, you’ll find her spending time with her senior thoroughbred gelding and slowly getting back into polo.

jessica axelsson

Office Staff/Client Care Specialist

When you call our office, Jessica is the voice on the other end of the line, scheduling appointments, filling medication requests, and answering your questions. Jessica Axelsson was born and raised in Cape May County and began riding at the age of 9. She was a 4H member and took lessons as often as her parents would allow. While in high school, she began driving commercially as a tour guide with the Cape May Carriage Company. Her love of horses led her to study Equine Science at Delaware Valley University, where she competed on the Intercollegiate Dressage team and helped teach driving courses. Jessica also attended Richard Stockton University and completed a BS in Business Management

Following graduation, Jessica continued to be actively involved in the driving world, working as a groom, competing in pleasure driving across the east coast, teaching and ultimately earning her judge’s license from the American Driving Society and U.S. Equestrian. She frequently travels during the summer throughout the country officiating driving shows, while working remotely as our “office”. Jessica enjoys dressage as her “hobby” and has competed at recognized USDF shows through 1st level. She has one wonderful pony, Acorn, who is enjoying retired life as a leadline pony for her two young children.

JILLIAN TOZER

Veterinary Assistant

Jillian Tozer is one of our assistants - you can find her out on the road with our veterinarians helping handle patients, organizing equipment and supplies, assisting with paperwork and other related tasks. Jillian was born and raised in Cumberland County, and has been working with horses almost all her life. She was active in the county 4-H program for over 13 years, and was even awarded the title equestrian of the year. She has competed in multiple disciplines - even driving! - and equally enjoys riding and just hanging out in the barn! Jillian and her off-the-track Thoroughbred Dusty used to participate in Hunter Jumpers, but now enjoy more leisurely riding and trail riding.

Aren Adair

Veterinary Assistant

Aren was raised in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA where she grew up with a love for animals. Horses quickly became her “happy place” when her dad taught her to ride when she was 11 years old. Aren attended Kansas State University majoring in Animal Science and Industry where she spent most of her time in the campus stables. Afterwards, back in PA, she worked as a barn manager for a large family farm where she fell even more in love with the hard work and dedication it takes to care for horses. She moved to South Jersey about 4 years ago and, although she doesn’t have her own horses, she always tries to find an opportunity to go riding with friends or spend time in a barn somewhere. These days, if she’s not on the farm, you can typically find her out exploring trails with her Sheepdog mix, Luna.
