Lameness issues are one of the most common problems horse owners deal with and they can be frustrating and challenging. Pinewood Equine is here to guide you through the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of lameness issues in your horse. The lameness examination is a combination of looking at your horse standing still and in motion. Using a systematic approach of observation and diagnostic nerve blocks and imaging, we will work closely with you to get you and your horse back on track. Through making a diagnosis, creating a treatment and rehabilitation plan, we can help you return to enjoying your horse and doing what you love, whether it is competing in the dressage ring, taking long trail rides, or jumping courses.
Pre-purchase examinations: Information to guide your purchasing decisions. A prepurchase examination is recommended for any new horse. This exam provides the buyer with a comprehensive assessment of the horse's condition, based on the day of examination. A full prepurchase examination involves a full physical examination (eyes, heart, lungs, body condition), with ophthalmic and neurologic exam, and soundness evaluation. Flexion tests will be performed to identify potential areas of lameness. Radiographs may be recommended depending on the results of flexion tests, the horse's history and intended use. Additional tests by request may include bloodwork, fecal test, endoscopy, or breeding soundness examination.
